Natursorb Softeners

Natursorb using Filtersorb SP is effective up to 75 grains of Hardness

    • Low Contact time (3 seconds) regardless of hardness level. Conventional ion exchange requires 90 seconds
    • No Salt
    • No water waste from backwashing
    • No damage to the environment
    • No brine discharge can be used where salt systems are banned
    • No control valve
    • No electricity needed
    • No need to cut into house drain

How is Natursorb with Filtersorb SP different from Ion exchange(salt)?

The Natursorb system using Filtersorb SP is not a softener in the traditional sense. The classical water-softening unit operates on the basis of Ion exchange; exchanging calcium and magnesium ions in watr with an equivalent amount of sodium (salt). When a water softener is used the result is not only soft water, but also increased sodium content in the water supply. Additionally these softening units require water for backwashing and common brine water “salt water” for regeneration.

For example, in order to regenerate 100 liters of softening resin, up to 25 kg of salt per regeneration cycle is required. This also means that you must have a drain installed to allow the unit to eliminate by products and flushes sodium down the drain which later must be removed to make this water drinkable once more. Also this means you must add more costly salt to your water softener. The Natursorb using Filtersorb SP water media acts as a catalyst byaccelerating the transformation of the calcium and magnesium minerals into harmless “Nano” particles. When the inlet water goes into the water conditioner tank, the up flow pulls the water through the fluidized Filtersorb SP media which then actos as a catalyst and pulls the hardness minerals of calcium and magnesium out of the solution and then transforms these minerals into inactive Nano Crystal particles. Because the hardness minerals have been transformed in Nano particles, these nanoscopic particles make their way through plumbing systems without attaching on to pipes, fixtures, valves or heating elements. Filtersorb SP uses no salt and ends:

Before Natursorb

After Natursorb

  • Scale buildup in appliances  i.e. coffee pots, hot water heaters faucet heads
  • Scratching of glasses in dishwasher
  • The need to use large amounts of soap
  • White buildup on shower heads
  • Soap scum on shower doors
  • Spotting on stainless steel that won’t come off

How does calcium scale develop on pipes and hardware?

Calcium Scale is a hard thick coating or covering of calcium carbonates (CaC03) that forms on heating elements and on the pipes and hardware of plumbing systems i.e. hot water tank electrodes, coffee makers, faucet heads. As the calcium rich water enters into the home, the carbonic acid/calcium equilibrium becomes interrupted within the pipes. Because the hydrogen carbonate (Ca (HCO3)2) is a very weak chemical compound, temperature increases or movement causes the compound to breakdown and parts of the
calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate (HCO3) are no longer dissolved and attach to the surfaces of pipes, heaters, and hardware. Over time the scale compounds and is very difficult and costly to remove.

WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF CALCIUM?

Negative effects

The negative effect of calcium is that it creates scale on pipes, hardware and surfaces.  This leads to high energy costs for heaters and expensive repairs for ice machines, coffee makers, and all metal plumbing fixtures.  The scale also may breed bacteria.

Positive effects

Calcium enriched water is a health benefit and an important nutrient needed to help prevent or minimize diseases such as heart disease.  Ideally, consumable water should contain adequate amounts of calcium and magnesium which are both found in hard water.
Natursorb with Filtersorb SP media provides an innovative solution that prevents all of the negative effects of calcium and magnesium, while allowing the positive health benefits to remain.  The system is maintenance free, chemical free, salt free and does not require costly regeneration and backwashing.  THE RIGHT ANSWER TO BEING ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND, HEALTH CONSCIOUS AND STILL DEALING WITH HARD WATER.

After Natursorb Treatment

How can I tell if the Natursorb system is working?

Because there is no slick feel to the water as there is with ion exchange it is harder to tell if the system is operating and doing its job.  There are a couple of tests that can be performed.  If you drain the hot water heater at the time of installation, and then again in 8 weeks:  At the second draining you will see much calcium, Milky water and other crystals that have been cleaned from the hot water heater and have fallen to the bottom of the tank. This is the existing scale that has been removed by the Natursorb system.  You can also take two pans and put water in each, one with treated water and one directly from the source.  Allow them to boil till the water evaporates and you will find  a hard scale build up along the sides of the pan with untreated water.  What is left in the bottom of the treated water pan is a few white crystals that can just be wiped away with a towel.

How long will the Natursorb system last.

Natursorb softeners will last a minimum of five years before the media must be changed. In that 5 years there is no maintenance to perform, nothing to add and nothing to think about.  5 years of worry free water that comes with a written guarantee covering your first 5 years of ownership.
